Abstract

In the context of occupational health, a new process arises: The Burnout Syndrome. Several authors have documented that this syndrome affects more professionals that require direct contact with people and a humanistic philosophy of work, that is, those that need a high dose of delivery and involvement. A bibliographic review of descriptive studies on Burnout syndrome was carried out in nurses, in databases MEDLINE, SCIELO and ELSEVIER. Forty-nine articles were obtained, made between 2010 and 2016 of international and national origin, among which forty-four are Spanish and five English. Measurements indicate that the nursing staff presents on average Burnout syndrome of 37.14%, with levels between 17.2% and 50.5%. Levels of Average Emotional Exhaustion, in 43%. Low Personal Performance of 32%. Depersonalization in 17%.
