Abstract

During the preoperative stage the patient presents a series of feelings, with anxiety being the central cause of the intense physical and mental discomfort, caused by the ignorance of the possible dangers that may occur in the surgical act. Therefore, comprehensive nursing support is required to face these situations. The aim of this article is to analyze the main studies on the preoperative anxiety and importance of nursing care from the theoretical model of Kristen Swanson. Methodology: Review in databases. Scielo, Global Nursing, Pubmed, Worldwide Science. Conclusion: studies show that nursing interventions are an achievement that allow a better surgical process due to the reduction of emotions in the preoperative stage, since they have a level of significance in the care of the same, improving the stay during the operative stage and mainly in the postoperative period, reducing pain and hospital stay.
