Perception of the institutionalized major adult against the family absence, a look from the theory of autotrascendence

Introduction: Aging is a phenomenon of the life cycle of human biology, which involves heterogeneous, pathogenic changes present in psychobiological, emotional and social processes; added to the perceived demographic transition, they become a constructor of variables that modify the response capacity of the older adult in the face of changes in their environment, and among them, family absence. The application of the Theory of Autotranscendence, generates a continued development in the elderly who seeks to maintain mental health and sense of well-being during the aging process. Objective. To know the perception of the institutionalized older adult in front of the absence of their relatives through the Theory of the Self-transcendence, in the Nursing Home San Martin de Porres. Methodology. The research was developed through a phenomenological and interpretative approach that allows to develop a qualitative study. Results For the elderly group of the San Martín de Porres Nursing Home in the municipality of Palermo-Huila, the factors that tend or limit their self-transcendence unfold in their self-conception of vulnerability and well-being.
