Abstract

Introduction: Pressure ulcers are due to factors such as advanced age, lack of physical activity, reduced mobility and poor state of consciousness; Beyond present itself as a problem clearly physical, are considered a public health problem because they bring impact on the cost to the health system; That being so important to describe risk factors for developing pressure ulcers (PU) in hospitalized patients in a health institution Neiva during the period from August to November 2018. Materials and methods: The information was collected through the application of an instrument of valuation of UPP and a review of the clinical history of digital 90 adult patients presenting with pressure ulcers in a health institution of high complexity of the city of Neiva. Result: The pressure ulcer is a condition common in older adults hospitalized, the factors that are related with the appearance of UPP includes elderly, disabled guests, diaper rash, humidity, urinary and fecal incontinence, length of hospital stay longer than 12 days.
