Abstract

Objective: To determine the prevalence of adverse events related to nursing staff care in pa- tients hospitalized in high complexity institution from Neiva 2012 to 2017. Materials and Methods: A descriptive retrospective study that analyzed the information obtained from the adverse events reported in the period 2012 to 2017 related to nursing care during the hospital stay in a highly complex institution in the city of Neiva, Results: During the study period, it was found that 51.5% of the total of AD (n = 598) occurred in women and 48.5% (n = 563) in men. The overall prevalence of adverse events found during the period from 2014 to 2017 for every 1000 hospitalized patients was 29.7 cases of adverse events, and the adverse event related to nursing care during the period from 2014 to 2017 per 1000 Hospitalized patients presented 22.1 cases of AD. Conclusions: The most frequent adverse events were those related to care with a frequency of 74.7% (867 events), it should be noted that phlebitis in the puncture site was the most prevalent event in the period studied.
