Abstract

A group of people sue the Colombian State before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, in order to be held responsible for the violation of the treaty of the American Convention on Human Rights in its art. 4º.- right to life -, art. 5th. -Right to personal integrity-, art. 7th. -Right to personal liberty- of the American Convention, as victims of the massacre perpetrated in Mapiripán Meta between July 15 and 20, 1997, to where the self-defense groups made presence and selectively executed civilians resident in this place indicated of being guerrilla helpers.

The State is held responsible, given that the military forces actively and decisively supported the self-defense groups in extrajudicial executions, a group to whom criminal execution was attributed.
