Approach to oncological emergencies in adults

The increase of the oncologic diseases incidence requires that the health-personnel have optimal knowledge for management of the cancer and hematological malignancy patients. On the course of these diseases, patients go to the intensive care unit for different reasons associated to their disease or treatments related to complications, which needs tools to improve the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases in order to change the outcomes and the quality of life of these patients. Sometimes the decision to transfer a patient to the intensive care unit has relevant ethical considerations and it should be individual for each case based on the prognosis in order to maximize the survival rate, decrease unnecessary suffer and reduce costs. This paper includes the management of acute pathologies which needs preventive and developed approach to clarify the criteria used for the ICU admission.
