At present, some studies have evidenced the problem of newborn care, where several authors have stated that it is due to the teenage girls who do not have sufficient knowledge about their basic care, which causes an incorrect adoption of maternal role inappropriate behaviors who practice in caring for the newborn. From this, this article is carried out with the objective of identifying the knowledge of the teenage primigestants about the care of the newborn, from a review of international studies.
This bibliographic review lost 45 studies published from 2013 to 2019, from indexed pages on research related to the knowledge of the teenage primigestants about newborn care. As a result of the study, it was obtained that the knowledge of the teenage primigestants about the care of the newborn was low in studies found in Spain, Peru, Ecuador and Argentina, medium in studies of Peru and Ecuador, and high in a study of Peru. This demonstrates that the majority of women consulted are unaware of the care of the newborn, about the risks of sudden death and breastfeeding. On the other hand, although some women find about the physical care of the newborn, they are not yet physically or psychologically prepared to assume the responsibility of being mothers or for the care of their newborns.
