Laparoscopic surgery in the treatment of gynecological diseases, experience of the ENDOFEM group in Neiva city, from 1st of September 2014 to 30th of august, 2017

Abstract

Aim: To show the initial experience of laparoscopic surgery in patients who have been treated for ENDOFEM group in Neiva City. Materials and methods: 558 patients were analyzed who had a laparoscopic surgery for gynecologic diseases in two referral medical centers in Neiva City; 478 were treated for benign and 80 for malign. Variables were measured as age, body mass index, surgery length, bleeding, intraoperative and postoperative complications, hospital stay and postoperative pain. Results: 588 procedures were conducted, patients of all ages with an average of 40 +/- 11,8 years, it was found that 34% of the patients have overweight or suffer from obesity level.  In this study the most performed procedure was the total hysterectomy, 32% were conducted for benign diseases and the 6,6% for oncologic pathologies. It was reported one intraoperative complication concerning bladder injury that was sutured in the same surgery. The early postoperative complications rate was 1,3%, no one of these patients were hospitalized. 87% of the scope was discharged the same intervention day. When the postoperative pain was evaluated with analogue pain scale at the 1th day, the 23.3% of the patients rated 5 and by the 7th day the 71% of the patients said that no one of them suffered from any pain. Conclusions: the laparoscopic surgery as a treatment of   benign and oncologic gynecologic pathologies is a reliable and safe approach. This study shows as a result a very low complication, positive impact for the health providers in terms of pain treatment and short hospital stay.
