Hemorrhage originating in the non-vice (non-variceal HVDA), manifested by hematemesis, melena or both, is one of the most impacting medical events, particularly the patient. Because of what motivates when consulting the emergency services and constitutes one of the main causes of the practice of endoscopic examinations, these techniques have been modified with the technological and scientific advance, strengthening the knowledge of its etiology and its medication. Despite major advances in endoscopy, critical medicine, and transfusion and surgery techniques, overall mortality continues to be around 7 to 10% and unchanged in the last four decades. Possible causes are the increase in the number of cases of bleeding due to ulcers in patients over 60 years of age, a higher consumption of NSAIDs. Based on investigations of groups of patients older than 50 years and based on the keywords digestive tract bleeding, endoscopy, older adult. With the help of search engines such as Clinicalkey and Pudmed, we found artic les from Gastroenterology, Geriatryc, and Scielo from the years 2000 to 2017. Later, a table of analysis and synthesis was created for the organization of the information to identify the common findings and to compare the results of several Studies and identify causes, medications and age and gender more frequently.
