Abstract

Dermatomyositis is an inflammatory myopathy of autoimmune etiology, characterized by symmetrical involvement of muscle groups, generally proximal. This condition can present progressive deterioration affecting the mobility of certain muscle groups, and can also present with other complications, such as vascular involvement, which predisposes to thrombus formation. We present the case of a 40-year-old patient admitted for progressive deterioration of strength in the lower limbs, who was diagnosed with dermatomyositis based on quadriceps muscle biopsy findings. Subsequently, he presented a deep vein thrombosis associated with the disease.
